About Peet, For Peet's Sake & How It All Began

I  used to think that having a blog was such a cliché – everybody has a cell phone, a blog and an indoor restroom these days. Although according to the latest study done by the UN, that seems to be false because more people have cell phones than sufficient sanitary conditions a. k. a. a toilet. But that’s not the point here. I thought that maybe it was OK or even cool to have a blog back in the 60’s when the US government supposedly invented the Internet, but to start a blog now in the 21st century – come on.
I always toyed with the idea of having my own web log though, but never managed to find enough cojones on me to just grab them and do it. Until two of my friends, Hana and Tea, decided to start their own blog (you can check it here) and Hana had an idea of me being some sort of guest blogger, posting something every week on otherwise their blog. I thought to myself: “You do love to write,” and went with it. And most importantly – liked it. A lot (you can scroll through my post here). But I was still a bit hesitant about embarking on this adventure solo – again, cojones issues – until I read an interview with a blogger (Sincerely, Jules) saying that her blog simply offered her another creative outlet. And that’s when it dawned on me: blogging is just another form of expressing oneself and I’d be an idiot if I didn’t take advantage of the opportunity. I mean for Pete’s sake, just do it – for Peet’s sake! And here we are. Thanks to Hana for fostering the idea of me being a part of their blog, thanks to Tea for allowing it to see where it took us and thanks to Buddha or cosmos for making me read that interview.
So this is it. Hope you like it. And if you don’t – I do.

What do you do?
I'm a freelance translator, I work from home.

How old are you?
I was born in 1986.

Where are you from?
I'm from Slovenia.

Where the fuck is that?
Here.

Who designed your blog?
I did all by my lonesome. I have close to nothing knowledge on HTML and CSS but I've learned everything I needed off of the Internet. Google truly is your friend — seek and you shall find any code you can possibly need to DIY a page yourself.

How to use For Peet's Sake?
You really should read FPS on a computer or a tablet or anything that isn't a mobile phone basically. I edit my pictures and set up my posts so that they're not mobile-friendly. Sorry (not sorry). And furthermore, if you're here just for the pictures, go away. I mean it.

Who takes your photos?
Since July 2013, I've been taking them myself just me, my trusty tripod and my even trustier remote control. I've learned that that's easier on everybody because I'm a control freak, just a bit, just a teensy weensy bit. You can read more about the picture taking process here.

What camera do you use?
A Nikon D90 with an 18-105 mm and 50 mm (since July 2016) lenses.

Who edits your photos?
I edit them myself in Photoshop. You can find more on that here.

Is this a fashion/personal style blog?
No, at least that's not the intention behind it. The stress is on my writing, that's why I started blogging (you can read more on my blogging beginnings in the intro above).

So what kind of a blog is this?
Actually ... I have no idea, it's hard for me to put it in a box. Viggo Mortensen once said, "People like to pigeonhole you. It's easier." And I get that it's easier, but in this case I can't help you out, because this blog is all over the place. I write about stuff that irks me, makes me happy, intrigues me or just simply blows my mind, but most of all, I write, that's what this site is about: it's my very own personal writing blog about everything and nothing. It took some time but it finally crystallized into what it is today — a weekly column with pictures.

And why exactly do you post pictures of yourself?
Because people are drawn to pictures and I'm sure you know the saying a picture's worth a thousand words. I wanted the text to be accompanied by some imagery as well and I wanted that imagery to be mine so here we are. Besides, in this whole process I've discovered another creative outlet for myself.

So, do you walk around looking like this every day?
No. As I've said above, I work from home, so my everyday outfits consist of sweatpants and oversized (most times just badly stretched) worn-out t-shirts (and hoodies during winter) and you can see an example of my home outfit here. Since I basically look like shit most of the time, I like to get dressed up when I go out for drinks or dinner or to a party and those are the outfits you see on the blog.

You almost never smile in your photos and you sound so grumpy — are you a mean person?
No, I'm actually a pretty jolly individual.:D I just get off on sarcasm and I hate using smiley faces I think they're one of the worst things that happened to language and literacy.:) If the reader can't get the joke from the words themselves, then there's something wrong with the author or the reader – or they're simply just not a good match.:P Besides, if I did use them, my posts would be a whole lot longer.:D Why? Because there should be one at the end of every phrase, clause and/or sentence basically.:P Get it?;)

Why can't I comment on your recent posts?
Quite simply, because I've disabled comments. Why? Because I occasionally got comments like, 'Too long to read but the pics are great!!' and they made me want to chuck my computer out the window because this IS about the words, not the pictures, so I decided to nip that shit in the bud. For any further clarifications, you can also read this.

This is all fine and dandy but I want to know more about you.
You sure? If yes, here are some posts with more random, useless facts about me: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.

OK, but all this actually still didn't answer MY question can I ask you something else?
Of course! Send me an email (you can find the address here) or leave a comment below and I'll gladly reply and answer any questions you have.

Disclaimer
Everything here on the blog is my opinion — backed up by various studies, history facts, personal experiences and whatnot, yes, but still only an opinion, therefore you really shouldn't get offended by any of it. Remember, I’m just some random person so what do you care? I don’t make or break your life, right? Thus if you don’t like something or anything that I’m saying, simply click the x above — and have an awesome day. It’s that easy.
