Boys, Boys, Boys

I used to think that it was so easy for a girl to be fashionable, much easier than for a guy not to look boring. My boyfriend constantly complains that women have a lot more too choose from when it comes to fashion and that he HAS TO wear mostly blue jeans and T-shirts. Well boohoo.

At the end of the 19th century, women started to wear pants and men’s shirts and weren’t as restricted to just skirts and dresses as they’ve been what made woman’s fashion more colorful. Hooray for that, I say, because I’ve spent 96.3 % of my life in pants. 2.9 % of my life I’ve skipped about in a skirt, a blouse and a pair of white socks or in a very pink and very flowery dress topped with a very white and very lacy collar because my mum dressed me and I had to look less like Mowgli or Huck Finn and more like a mommy’s (good) little girl for my christening or piano recitals. The other 0.8 % I’ve put on a skirt voluntarily and I’m not quite sure why. You can’t get wasted while wearing it and jump on a bar, for example, without having a Snooki moment when everybody can or think they can see your cuca. Besides, you constantly have to watch the stupid hem, which is always going North, whereas EVERYTHING else from your makeup and hair to boobs and ankle fat is going South!
Due to the inconvenience, which is a synonym for a skirt, back in the 19th century women didn’t mind becoming a little bit butch. On the other hand, men didn’t want to have anything to do with women’s clothes, because we have cooties, of course, therefore – unfortunately for men – they didn’t adopt skirts and that’s why they all have to look like a bag of Oreos – the same, not delicious. The lack of choice is a very common excuse for a guy not to put some effort into his outfit and to look like 60 % of the world’s population (give or take). But there are a few bright exceptions to the rule and I just wanted to post a few pics – to give you some ideas or for you to just rest your eyes on. Hope you’ll enjoy them.

I know, it's Justin Bieber, give me a break. I'm not talking about music, I'm talking about clothes and I like bright colours on a man.

    1. I agree - they have plenty of possibilites, it's just easier for them to say that they don't have much to wear so they don't have to bother. You don't like "girls" clothes on a guy?? I kind of like the skinny jeans trend on a man, I like to see the tush.:)

  6. Noo way!! I think it is easier for boys to look cool than girls.. We have stupid hips and hang ups to work with whereas guys can just put on a fresh t-shirt, some nice jeans and cool crepes and they are good to go. We have to live with waist belts stopping us from breathing, make-up running and hair styles messing up in the wind :P xx

  19. HAHAHA I LAUGHED so hard at the snookie moment, but it's really true! I always prefer jeans (mmm black jeans!!). And to be quite honest, it's so easy for a guy to look good and stylish, there is so much they can do with so little! For us women it's a friggin jungle, for men it's more like a pleasant trip to the park.
    nice blog!
