Ain't No Shame in My Game

I take pride in my musical upbringing thanks to my Smashing-Pumpkins-and-System-of-a-Down-listening brother, The-Doors-and-Pink-Floyd-listening father and Bob-Marley-and-Bob-Dylan-listening mother. Because of them, I successfully dodged the Kelly Family bullet and until a couple of years ago, I thought that Caught in the Act was a song by Backstreet Boys or vice versa. That's why it's really hard for me to admit when I like some über popish song and I try to fight my feelings and refuse to bob my head to it or sing along - I know all the Nirvana lyrics by heart and know who Mark Knopfler is, for Peet's sake, I can't be liking no pop music!
But whether I like it or not, there are songs which are too powerful and I can literally lose it when I hear some of the following tunes in a club or a bar, providing I'm intoxicated enough to be unable to filter myself, of course. And since I always pick on people, who listen to Justin Bieber or like those ridiculous Pitbull collab songs, and I banned some of the following artists from my boyfriend's car CD collection, I thought it would be fun to give a list of some of my current (and some evergreen) favorites because I'm just tired of hiding and there ain't no shame in my game! So here we go:
  1. Christina Aguilera: Your Body (listen)
  2. Britney Spears: One Two Three (listen)
  3. Britney Spears: Dance Until the World Ends (listen)
  4. Dino Merlin feat. Ivana Banfic: Godinama (listen)
  5. Usher feat. Pitbull: DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love (listen)
  6. Justin Bieber feat. Nicki Minaj: Beauty and a Beat (listen)
  7. Ceca: Pazi s kime spavas (listen)
  8. Rihanna: Where Have You Been (listen)
  9. Miley Cyrus: We Can't Stop (listen)
  10. Black Eyed Peas: The Time (Dirty Bit) (listen)

I know it's "wrong" for me to like these tracks because no respectful person, who listened to Annie Lennox as a child and went to music school and played piano for 7 years, should say these songs are good, but I do like them and I do think they are good. This is my perfect weekend playlist and I'm going to enjoy it - the weekend and the playlist. I hope you do too!

Shorts - Clark, swimsuit - eBay, shirt - H&M, sneakers - Deichmann

Don't forget to follow FPS via Twitter and/or Bloglovin if you share some of my musical preferences and even if you don't. You're also welcome to come back again next week to see what's new on the blog. Posting days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays!

  10. Haha, you are too cute, I would never go near any bubble gum pop song now but in my early teens I was a massive Britney-NSYNC-Europop fan. Ive learnt better since then. But some songs are so catchy, one listen and they are stuck in your head FORever. Currently Justin Timberlake's Mirrors is my favorite commercial tune, I simply can't get tire of it. Happy Weekend sweety.

  12. Nice pictures! Oh how I envy your mastery of ebay to get that bathing suit!

It happens often to me, that i get angry with myself because my musical tastes. When I was younger everything was clear: the rock was cool and the rest was crap. But you grow up, and musical boundaries are blurred (all boundaries in fact), so I can`t be so hard on myself.
Neither on you, because i like most songs on the list (except the voice of Justin Bieber, I can swear that I puke when I hear it). In fact, i like Rihahna or Lady Gaga more and more. My head tells me to modernize!

PS. I do not know how I write you the Bible in each comment. Sorry, I can't summarize.

    1. And I concur. People shouldn't care what other people think - that's a good rule of thumb in life.

  14. I think you are enjoying this 'fashion blogging', 'Outfit of the Day' lark more than you previously let on - I love these shots of you - very modelesque, very chic! Go girl!

Yep, not really in to any of those pop songs, but you like them and that's all that matters. Currently loving Disclosure and I was bobbing my head quite a bit to the Project X theme tune, Heads Will Roll, this morning. My guilty pleasure would be Justin Bieber's song Boyfriend!

    1. Well thanks, babe, much appreciated!!! It think it really helps that I take all of these pictures by myself now, it's less pressure and weird, I'm just by myself with the camera. It definitely makes for a less miserable experience.:)

  15. Beautiful photos, this cherry print top (or bathing suit?) is so cute!!

I think it's okay to like pop songs. Okay, I'm not a pop music fan at all, but sometimes this genre comes up with pretty awesome songs! I would always preferDeftones, As i Lay Dying and stuff like that - but I have to admit that for example Justin Timberlake makes really cool songs.

It's not wrong to like music, even if it's pop music ;)

  17. HA!! I'm the same - I practice my base guitar to King Crimson and Soft Machine and have a Tool (awesome band) tattoo of a third eye on the back of neck to remind myself to think for myself and question - but when Hey Mama from the Black Eyed Peas come on... I'm shaking my money maker like I don't give a damn - being hipster is fatiguing.
