Life Is Like Riding a Bicycle

I've already posted an Albert Einstein quote here, but while reading the book mentioned in that post, I found a bunch of other quotes by the mischievous scientist so I said to myself: "What the heck, he deserves an entire post to himself." Besides, if you watched the movie I.Q., you can't deny that you have a soft spot for him, I know I do. Or at least I did...
Why past tense you ask? After I found out that he supposedly stole the concept for the theory of relativity (and some others as well) from his first wife, a Serbian called Mileva Marić, I kind of hold a grudge against him. Of course one of the greatest minds of our time got his brilliant ideas from a woman. And of course she got the short end of the stick. Fuck him. I don't want to seem feminist, I love men, at least parts of them, I mean some of them, but I hate it when credit isn't given where credit is due. That however does not change the fact that he worded some clever musings, which I'd like to share with you today.
  • Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  • The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.
  • I never think of the future. It comes soon enough.
  • Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.
  • Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.
  • Creativity is intelligence having fun.
  • We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
  • Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.
  • Imagination is more important than knowledge.
  • Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.
  • The important thing is not to stop questioning.
  • You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.
  • Information is not knowledge.
  • The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once.
  • The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil but because of those who look on and do nothing.
  • Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count, everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted.

  4. Exceptionally well chosen quotes.
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results"... Haven't seen that in a while ; We had that one sprawled across the wall inone of the chem labs in school. You just brought back some seriously mixed up emotions & now I'm feeling oddly nostalgic. huh.

  6. Those Einstein quotes are fabulous! Might he have lifted some of those wonderful quotes from his wife? I love them. Whilst considering combining the ideas in a couple of the quotes I'm imagining that it wouldn't make sense to try to maximize one's intelligent creativity in the course of trying to demonstrate that stupidity has no limits (even though that might be fun). On the subject of counting and not counting I saw a blurb from an article in "The Cut" at nymag, com about a Guiness World Record for the number of people twerking - "beating the previous record of nobody-has-ever counted-this-before."
I love your hair colour and also like the pattern on your leggings very much.

  9. What, Albert got the idea of his wife? Man, I didn't even know he had a Serbian wife (huh, seems like were not that stupid after all), and yes, I guess she did help him while he was finding out that theory! However, I have to tell you that this location is totally amazing and the outfit so cool! Lovely post, I always get cleverer while visiting your blog :D

    1. Yup, she was a Serbian. And a very smart one too - she did all the mathematical calculations for "his" theory. I'm not saying that he was dumb or that he didn't contribute anything, but I'm saying that it wasn't all him and I hate that the world doesn't want to acknowledge that.

  14. What an amazing place you have found for this photo shoot, I'm simply impressed. Its so atmospheric and mysterious. You are also a good model, how photogenic you are!
I must say I love reading your thoughtful post, which are always full of wisdom and meaningful. I quite agree, in spite of the fact the most splendid and genius people are mostly men, though they would never reach that success without women behind them. Women are always the main inspiration, only a woman is a key.

  16. Hi Peet, I had no idea that he borrowed/stole the idea from his first wife...it all makes sense now. It was so fun and enlightening reading through his unique very witty and thoughtful quotes. It still applies even today in modern times. I liked the one about insanity and also about the reason the world is a dangerous place. Loving your uber chic printed pants, styled with finesse, the blue boots are amazing! I appreciate you stopping by...how amazing did Bibi B look!! Have a great Friday!

I didn't know about the robbery. I can imagine this coming from anyone but not from Einstein. I admire him a bit less... Can you imagine how many things were discovered by women and exposed by men?
