7 Weird Things

For Peet's Sake blog

Today I'll keep it short and sweet. Ok, I don't know about the sweet part, it might be weird or interesting or just white-noise-ish, but I'll definitely try to keep it short. A long time ago I was nominated for a Versatile Blogger Award by two lovely ladies - Inna and Sanaya - and I haven't thanked them properly (meaning in a post) yet so I'm doing it now: Thank you, ladies! Along with the award, you're supposed to share 7 things about yourself but I want to keep things as readable as possible so I'll try to come up with 7 weird things. Or interesting ones I should say. Not that I'm saying that I'm not weird or that I don't want to admit I'm weird but it's hard for me to pinpoint the exact aspects of my weirdness because they all seem normal to me since I'm doing them. Does that make any sense? Anyhow, weird or interesting, I have to warn you - I'm not that interesting to begin with and besides, I've used a lot of the good ones in this post so this might be a major snoozefest, but here we go...

  1. I didn't learn how to swim till I was 6 (or maybe even 7). I've always loved water, but we spent all of our summers on a sailboat and there was no beach for me to just wade in the sea and get accustomed to the idea of swimming so I always swam around the boat with those inflatable donuts and sleeves and whatnot until one day my father - after drinking a beer or two - got fed up with it and threw me overboard into the sea. I screamed like crazy and everyone (except my mom) laughed, imbeciles.
  2. I can't spell. Even though I have a degree in English, I have trouble spelling. Carrier and career, planning and planing, coup and cup, it's all the same to me if I'm not fully focused. My first week at the university, we had to write an essay and I wrote down "a shit of paper" instead of "sheet". The professor pulled me aside and asked me if I did it on purpose, she thought I was sending her subliminal messages because I hate her or something. No, beach, I just can't spell!
  3. I don't drink Jägermeister. I LOVE alcohol, ANY alcohol, but not Jägermeister, that's the only thing I won't put in my mouth, drink-wise at least. I'd rather drink cologne than that, yuck.
  4. I was a vegetarian for 2 years. The problem is that I love the taste of meat and after 2 years I was so deprived, I couldn't take it anymore and now I eat meat once every 2 months or so. I actually don't think there's anything wrong with eating meat, that's how life is - it's a food chain. But I do think there's everything wrong with how we treat animals before we get meat from them. We've taken ourselves out of the food chain and created an industry, we don't even give those poor cows and pigs and chickens a chance. 75 % of people wouldn't be able to catch their own meat, so what right do they have to gorge on two Big Macs at McDonald's for an afternoon snack?
  5. Whenever I have to use the bathroom for a long period of time (a.k.a. when I have to do a number 2), I take my phone with me and scroll through Lookbook.nu. Once I came out of the toilet and my boyfriend was waiting for me by the door all worked up: "Why do you always take your phone with you when you have to take a shit?? Are you hiding something from me?!" Yes, my inability to not have my brain occupied for 3 minutes.
  6. I've had more jobs than anyone I know. One summer I harvested pears, one autumn I harvested grapes, I've been a bartender, a mailman, a promoter handing out flyers on the street, I worked at a radio station as a host, at a TV station in montage and as a TV director, I was a dishwasher and a chef's assistant in a restaurant, I've worked as a translator, a copywriter, a proofreader and I'm sure I've left out some of the jobs because I just don't remember all of them anymore. And guess what? All that work and I'm still broke.
  7. I like the taste of blood. Whenever I have a nosebleed, I lean my head back and taste and swallow my blood for a few moments before I try and stop it. Once when I was still in high school, my classmate cut his arm and I wiped his blood with my thumb and licked it. He kind of freaked out.

  2. Nah they're not too weird, apart from the last one. I went through a 2 year spell of being vegetarian and one day mum was cooking some pork belly and I couldn't resist and well......the rest is history.

Lots of people can't swim, some of my family in the Caribbean can't swim and I cant get my head around that - they live about 10 mins from the beach!

I'd have never guessed you couldn't spell and you cant even rely on spell checker with those words.

Love the photography as always - I won't say anything about your boobies apart from JEALOUS!

    1. Pork belly??? Can't swim and are from the Caribbean??? I can't decide which is more surprising...:)

I always read through the post about 10 times before I post it. And I think long and hard at the words I know I might fuck up. A few posts ago I wrote down Nobel piece price first and noticed it only after I had published the post.:D

  8. Photos first: you're looking ridiculously hot in these!
The list of jobs you've had is amazing, but yo, the blood thing is kind weird!
My first swimming experience couldn't be more different than yours! I don't remember this story at all but everyone keeps telling me that it was freaking priceless to witness, but apparently one day, all my (older) cousins and brothers were having fun in the pool and splashing water at me to taunt me or whatever, and 3 year-old Hayfa just went all HAM on those bastards and jumped into the pool .

  10. Killer photos, as always! It's fun to learn random facts about your- I admit I laughed out loud at the fact you learned how to swim via your parents throwing you overboard- I guess that's one way to do it! ;) And oddly enough I love Jagermeister, but haven't had it in ages!

    1. Yes, that's ONE of the MILLION ways to do it.:D But learned.:) I actually knew how to swim, I just needed those floating devices to feel safe, but once he threw me and I hit that water, I was pretty much over my fear in a second..:)

  11. You weren't able to swim until age 6, well I could but barely. And still to this day am not that great. I could save myself from the Titanic (if it wasn't in cold water) but I wouldn't be part of the swim team any time soon. :)

  13. I think number 4 is pretty cool! I couldn't be a vegetarian myself, not even for a few months xD But to only eat meat once in a while is a really great idea and I think if you don't eat it that often, there really is nothing that bad about it.

  14. Hahaha I could see why he might've freaked out lovely. I think I would have too but then again I was a raging bitch in high school... I loved reading these things about you and I love your honesty even more. Don't think I'd be able to divulge my bathroom habits, then again they're nothing as awesome as yours. I just think, sometimes I stay there longer than I have to because I am deep in miserable thought! I think your English is amazing, like seriously wow. I wish I could do vegetarian but I love chicken, I don't have issues with people eating meat, except for veal. That is not ok. It's just the way it's become this massive production thing, we see them as food not wild animals, or animals who should still roam wild and free. I could never catch my food and eat it. Waaaaaay too traumatized by animal murder and slaughter I was subjected to as a child and probably why I don't really like the taste of red meats.

    P.S: I like Jagermeister

    1. My brother had to go to a slaughter house once as a student and of course he shared that information... I stopped eating meat for that reason for 2 years. Brutal doesn't even begin to describe it...

  18. Hi Peet, you have to take that sentence out - you are extremely interesting, in fact one of the most interesting bloggers out there! I love how honest you are, there aren't many people like that. I had a good laugh over the spelling bit, as I have said before, your English is excellent, I think you spell better than some first language English speakers.I completely agree on what you said about how animals are being treated and abused for food purposes. This is the reason I have become (sort of) a vegetarian too. I am so impressed by all your different jobs. You probably have a wealth of experience and any employer would be very lucky to have to you and your exceptional skill set. Thanks for your great comment, just like you said, some models and societies really need to put on a few kgs. Have an awesome week ahead hun.

  20. Sooooo you're a vampire with amazing ta-tas? I'm okay with that. Isn't it SO hard to write things about yourself? I've been asked to do something like this before and I just couldn't. Everything I've done, or do, is so normal and boring to me. Boooo!

  22. Unbelievable. You have a degree in English and you don't know how to spell? It's like ... very rare! The story is great lol

You don't like Jagger? I'll tell you one thing, it's a scary story. My boyfriend came to see me to Barcelona and we went to HardRock to ask for a shot of Jägermeister. The answer? € 8. We ran. Very fast. So fast that waiter turned to answer us and we weren`t there.

I find that don't eat meat is a very respectalbe principle. We treat animals as products. I know it, but I can`t resist =)

I can not stand the smell of blood, and neither the taste. Did you read twilight? (I have more literary quality that this. Just for the record)
Bella sais she's able to smell the blood oxide. Well, me too. And I hear the sound of it through the needle when I do blood tests.

    very 7 nice strange things!!
